The latest film by Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham, titled Alakada: Bad and Boujee, is slated to release in theaters in December.
The actress’ comedy series, which began with Alakada in 2009, Alakada 2 in 2013, Alakada Reloaded in 2017, and Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner in 2020, will get a fifth installment in 2020 called Alakada: Bad and Boujee.
Alakada narrates the tale of a destitute woman who made up false information about her social and economic standing in an attempt to blend in with society.
Toyin Abraham, Arike Adebayo, Femi Adebayo, Grace Oyin Adejobi, Ayanfe Adekunle, Bolaji Amusan, Funso Adeolu, Yomi Adeyeri, Samuel Perry, Odunlade Adekola, Kareem Adepoju, and Kola Ajeyemi are just a few of the actors who have acted in the films thus far.
In the first three days of its release in theaters, Kayode Kasum’s final installment in the series, Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner, brought in N17 million. According to reports, the movie earned N113.2 million at the box office.
The film was originally supposed to be released in April 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic—which also impacted Nigeria—caused the release to be delayed. It was a wise move to release on October 1st as lockdowns had already ended nationwide and people were eager to experience going out, even to the movies.
With the release of Alakada: Bad and Boujee in theaters in December, all eyes will be on Toyin Abraham to see whether she can top the popularity of the last Alakada film.
