Funke Akindele, an actress and producer, has revealed that her upcoming film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, will be released in December. However, the actress omitted to provide further details on the film, particularly whether it will premiere in theaters or on streaming services.
The comedy brand Jenifa, which evolved into The Return of Jenifa, and the television show Jenifa’s Diary might have some connection to Everybody Loves Jenifa.
Funke Akindele played Jenifa in the first movie of the franchise, a country girl who traveled to the city in search of wealth. She experienced ups and downs after her search brought her into a group of immoral women.
At the 2009 Africa Movie Academy Awards, Jenifa was nominated for four awards: Best Nigerian Film, Best Original Soundtrack, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Starring were Ronke Odusanya, Eniola Badmus, Mosunmola Filani, Ireti Osayemi, and Iyabo Ojo.
Funke Akindele, Lota Chukwu, Paschaline Alex, Falz, Joy Nice, and Michael Uba were among the actors who starred in the TV show.
A Tribe Called Judah, Funke Akindele’s final project, debuted in theaters in December 2023 and, in just 21 days after its release, set a record at the box office. It was the first Nollywood movie to make N1 billion as a result.
The film’s performance exceeded that of the actress’s earlier productions, Battle on Buka Street (N668.4m) and Omo Ghetto (N636.1m), which are presently the third and second highest-grossing movies in Nigerian theaters, respectively.
Nse Ikpe Etim, Funke Akindele, Timini Egbuson, Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Genoveva Umeh, and Nosa Rex were among the cast members of A Tribe Called Judah. Prime Video is currently offering it for streaming.
Boma Akpore, Etinosa Idemudia, Jide Achufusi, Olayode Juliana, Olumide Oworu, Paschaline Alex, Tobi Makinde, Uzor Arukwe, and Yvonne Jegede were among the other cast members.
