The Federal Government has put former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on a watch list. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has been directed to detain him at any point of entry or departure, and security agencies from all around the country have been informed.
The Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, disclosed this decision in a memo. The letter was sent to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The memo included Bello’s international passport details and was signed by ACI DS Umar. It read, “I am tasked with notifying you that the individual mentioned above has been placed on a watchlist.”
As per the letter Ref; CR; 3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/TE/V1/279 dated 18 April 2024, it is significant to note that the individual in issue is currently facing prosecution before the Federal High Court Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering. If detected at any point of entry or departure, you must make an instant arrest, report the matter to the Director of Investigation, or call 08036226329/07039617304 for additional instructions.
“As always, please accept the Comptroller General’s warmest regards and esteem.”
This comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared Bello wanted on Thursday.
