Ajuri Ngelale has been designated as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement released on Sunday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Tinubu stated that the appointment was contingent upon a calculated action to guarantee the progress of his administration’s green economic and environmental policies.
According to the announcement, Ngelale will carry out this function as a member of a broader Presidential Committee that the President would lead.
All policies and programs on climate action and green economic development will be coordinated and overseen by the Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions, which the President formed.
This is to ensure that all pertinent institutions in the sector are connected to the President’s vision and are jointly implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda on climate action. It also aims to remove obstacles to coordination, promote a whole-of-government approach to climate-action programs, and provide an effective governance architecture.
President Bola Tinubu will lead the Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions in the interim.
