According to local sources, Mahi Arya fled after being charged with killing her partner Ankit Chauhan because she wanted to start over with a new love.
Inspired by true crime TV shows, the lady who was detained allegedly hired a snake charmer to kill her partner.
According to local media, Mahi Arya fled after being charged with killing her partner Ankit Chauhan because she wanted to start over with a new partner. She apparently spent two months planning his murder after being influenced by the popular television program Crime Patrol.
Mahi, also known as Dolly, is suspected of planning the attack in collaboration with her unidentified maid and lover Deep Kandpal.
She is thought to have paid 10,000 Indian rupees, or less than £100, to a snake charmer on Friday, July 14, before inviting the victim to her home in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, India.
The 32-year-old lost consciousness after being bitten by a cobra on both feet. He was then taken into the back of a parked car a few roads away and left for dead.
The businessman discovered him dead the following day. Chauhan’s foot wounds were initially misdiagnosed as examples of suffocation, a disease in which the body is oxygen-deprived to the point of death.
After his sister Isha Chauhan informed the authorities, a post-mortem revealed that he had died from the deadly bites. Police started a manhunt for the killers and have now offered a £475 reward.
Afterwards, Mahi, her partner, and the snake charmer were taken into custody.
