Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been named the 2023 Independent Newspapers Governor of the Year (Tech Innovation) recipient.
At the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island in Lagos, the former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, chaired the presentation of the award to the governor, who was ably represented by his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Kayode Akinmade.
The Tech Innovation Award honors Governor Abiodun’s dedication to leveraging technology and innovation to propel the Gateway State’s economy.
Ogun State’s internally generated revenue (IGR) is among the nation’s second-best because to his creative and technical approach to governing. Additionally, his government converted gasoline and diesel buses to natural gas in order to implement a gas-powered public transportation system.
Tricycles and motorcycles will soon be included in the initiative. Along with establishing the Ogun Tech Hub, the Governor Abiodun government also implemented the “Light Up Ogun State” project, which aims to supply energy to all of the state’s hidden corners.
The Inspector General of Police just ordered a top-notch drone, which is another example of how the governor is using technology to combat crime in the state.
Aremo Osoba praised the event’s organizers but pointed out that the prizes transcended geographical boundaries, religious beliefs, and political ideologies.
The governors of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for Education and Youth Employment, Plateau State’s Caleb Mansseh Mutfwang, Governor of the Year (Infrastructure Development), Akwa Ibom State’s Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Governor of the Year (Fiscal Discipline), Gombe State’s Governor Inuwa Muhammadu Yahaya, Governor of the Year (Health), and Gombe State’s Governor Biodun Oyebanji, received the Governor of the Year (Community Development).
Among those receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the event were Chiefs Olabode George and Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
