Maryam Akpaogaki, better known as Taaooma, a popular comedienne and content creator, has revealed why she got into music.
During her participation on the current episode of The Leaderboard podcast presented by Fisayo Fosudo, the multi-talented skit creator said that she got into music because she felt it would be more appropriate to utilise her own songs in her skits rather than tracks by other artists.
According to her, entertainment symbolises freedom, allowing one to pursue varied interests.
She said, “Entertainment is freedom for me. You are capable of accomplishing anything. I also appreciate the fact that it is my music. It’s my tune. It’s a song I’m proud to have written. I simply feel like I’m borrowing other people’s tunes [in my skits], and this isn’t that difficult. I have a recording studio where we may record music.”
“I adore music.” Some people have said that I have a [melodic] voice. But, instead of me attempting to sing, I believe we can collaborate and make something happen,” she added.
In response to the criticism she has received for her musical endeavours, Taaooma stated unequivocally that it is ultimately up to God and her unrelenting determination to prove her naysayers wrong.
