Vice President Kashim Shettima’s mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir, passed away.
After a lengthy illness, Maryam passed away on Sunday night in Kano.
It was her sixty-nineth birthday.
Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications at the Office of the Vice President, published a statement on Monday stating that Hajiya Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, will be buried today afternoon in Kano in accordance with Islamic rituals.
The statement reads, “The late Hajiya Maryam was regarded in her community as a devout Muslim as well as an exemplary and kind-hearted mother. Her intellect, compassion, and commitment to philanthropic causes won her respect. Many in her family and the larger Kano community recall her as a source of wisdom and encouragement.
“The country honors the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir and extends its condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and their family during this difficult time.”
