On Friday, April 22, Yinka Olomojobi, a law professor at Babcock University in Ilishan, Ogun State, passed away in the state’s Iperu region.
Olomojobi was shot and killed, according to Channels TV, for supposedly refusing to let his attackers take him away. Two residents were abducted and taken to an unidentified location while he was being shot to death.
The assailants, who were reportedly eight in number and all clad in black, broke inside an event center on Sagamu Road and started firing randomly. The late Prof. Olowojobi was shot in the chest, according to eyewitnesses. Simultaneously, the gunmen were reported to have captured Dare, the manager of a car stand, and an unidentified individual.
One person has been arrested in relation to the event, according to SP Omolola Odutola, the state police command spokeswoman, who confirmed the incident to reporters.
Based on a reasonable suspicion, a two-week-old security guard was taken into custody while police launched a covert investigation. According to a report from the Iperu Division, on April 19, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., there was a kidnapping and murder occurrence. Due to an odd coincidence, Awada Ishaya from Plateau State, who was hired two weeks prior to the event center’s debut as a security guard, was taken into custody by the police for additional questioning.
After being transported to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, the lecturer was declared deceased. The abducted victims are being rescued, and efforts are being made to capture the perpetrators. We will provide further information when the situation changes.Odutola remarked.
