Tope Alabi, a gospel singer, has complained about what she calls “fake love” among gospel musicians.
This was said by Tope Alabi on Sunday at the “Celebrating Jesus 7.0” concert in Ibadan.
Before her performance, she talked about how frustrated she was with the amount of jealousy and bitter rivalries among her peers in the industry. She also stressed the need for support and unity between established and emerging artists. Alabi also reminded her senior colleagues to put their legacy and their responsibility to God ahead of fame and success.
We will be held accountable by God for these things. Put an end to it. It’s high time we realized that we are working for the kingdom rather than for our own glory or self-importance. The larger ones kept their distance from the newcomers. Yet the larger ones continue to fight; what do you want the ones coming up to do?
The new ones are already at odds with one another. Because we started it, these upcoming children are already backstabbing and imitating us. They are faking their smiles even though they are enemies of one another. God is going to ask us because this is getting out of hand.
