The administration of President Bola Tinubu authorized wage increases for civil officials on Tuesday ranging from 25% to 35% across a number of consolidated salary structures.
The National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission’s Head of Press, Emmanuel Njoku, signed a statement confirming this.
Njoku states that the increases will be implemented on January 1, 2024.
The statement went on to say that the six remaining consolidated salary structures—the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, the Consolidated Police Salary Structure, the Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure, the Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and the Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure—are also affected by the augmentation.
The Defined Benefits Scheme pension for retirees participating in the previously indicated consolidated wage structures has also been approved for augmentation, increasing from 20% to 28% as of the same date.

These salary increases affected structures such as the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure, Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure, Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure).
