On Wednesday, National Anthem Bill 2024 was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
The former anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” is what the law aims to bring back.
A final vote in favor of the bill’s passage will replace the now-familiar “Arise O Compatriots.”
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives swiftly approved the law.
This was disclosed on Wednesday during a joint meeting of the National Assembly by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Additionally, he declared that the president will just play the new national anthem and not address the House.
The president postponed the speech, according to Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, because June 12 is officially Democracy Day.
