Thiago Silva, a defender for Chelsea in the Premier League, has declared he will be leaving the team at the end of this campaign.
In August 2020, the 39-year-old left Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer to join the Blues.
Silva has now made 151 appearances and won the UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Champions League.
Due to a groin injury, the Brazil defender was replaced in the 90th minute of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday. This could have been his final game for the team.
Chelsea means a lot to me,” Silva said in an emotional message to his fans. My original plan when I arrived here was to stay for a year, but I ended up staying for four. not only for my family but also for myself.
Being a part of the Chelsea family literally stems from the fact that my sons play for the club. This makes me extremely proud. Many players want to be a part of our winning club, therefore I hope they may continue their careers here.
“I believe that throughout my four years here, I gave everything I did my all. Regretfully, though, everything has a beginning, middle, and finish. That does not imply that this is the last word. I intend to keep the door open so that I can come back soon, albeit in a different capacity. However, it’s an unfathomable affection. All I can say is, “Thank you.”
