It was announced on Thursday that the sale of Dex Luxury bar soap in Nigeria will no longer be permitted by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The government explains that the product’s inclusion of Butyphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA) is the reason for the ban.
On Thursday, April 11, NAFDAC announced this via a post on its official handle. The article claims that the substance was formerly prohibited by the European Union (EU) because of worries that it would damage users’ reproductive systems, endanger the health of unborn children, and induce skin hypersensitivity.
The organization stressed that even while importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers should use caution and vigilance throughout the supply chain, this product is not included in the NAFDAC database.
