Actor Uzor Arukwe, who is well-known, has voiced his opposition to the unsettling method used by the industry to choose performers for motion pictures.
As per Uzor Arukwe, the majority of actors get cast for films more because of their social media following than because of their talent.
Uzor Arukwe asserted in a recent interview with Pulse that actors with a strong online presence are often preferred by producers over those who possess genuine acting skills.
Uzor Arukwe acknowledged that a small number of performers had succeeded in the business by fusing talent with a robust online presence.
He pointed out that this tendency has given performers with larger social media followings an unfair edge over others who are truly talented.
After more than two decades in the business, Uzor Arukwe reflected on his early days as a struggling actor, saying:
“I can still very well recall when I first started. In a recent interview with Pulse, the 40-year-old actor said, “It was a big problem for me.”
In the past, the focus of this industry used to be mostly on things like Instagram and Twitter followers. A production company is looking at your figures and wants to recruit you, so even though I didn’t understand it, I knew I had to accept it. Can he act, though? That’s the question I ask every time. However, some individuals are fortunate enough to be outstanding actors with success stories and large fan bases.
