Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who escaped from detention in Nigeria, has been found in Kenya, the Nigerian government has reported. This news was confirmed by an unnamed presidential source who said that Anjarwalla’s extradition is being processed quickly.
To make it easier for him to return to Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Kenyan Police Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and the International Criminal Police are stepping up their talks.
“We know exactly where he is. We are working with the authorities to repatriate him to Nigeria while he is in Kenya,” the insider revealed.
In a statement released last month, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukuyede stressed the commission’s collaboration with INTERPOL, the US, UK, Northern Ireland, and Kenyan authorities in their pursuit of Anjarwalla, who has been runaway.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, EFCC arraigned Binance and the two executives.
Remember that on March 22, Anjarwalla broke free from prison and has been on the run ever since.
In the meantime, the government declared that the Office of the National Security Adviser, or ONSA, had fully transferred Binance’s case to the EFCC.
The Nigerian government persisted in its onslaught on Binance for months due to the company’s involvement in manipulating the foreign currency market in that nation.
The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, stated during the 293rd meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in February that over $26 billion had been laundered through Binance with no trace.
