Due to noise pollution, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed 19 hotels and at least five churches between March 23 and April 26.
Four marketplaces and shopping centers have also been temporarily closed.
St. Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, God’s Porch Ministries, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, and an unidentified Catholic church are among the churches.
School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites are a few of the hotels that are impacted.
In a post published on his X account on Friday, state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab said that noise pollution had also forced the closure of a number of businesses, including hotels, bars, and churches in Ifako-Ijaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu.
“LASEPA conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation today in strategic areas of lfako-ljaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu within Lagos State,” the statement stated, noting the tremendous effort made to combat noise pollution and other environmental breaches.
“Between the Catholic Church, Seventh Heaven Bar and Lounge, 1602 Hotel, God’s Porch Ministries, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, White Pavilion Hotel, Quest Hotel and Suites, Honey Comb Confectioners Limited, and Excel Hotel and Suite are some of the establishments that are impacted.”
“In order to enforce adherence to environmental regulations, these establishments have been temporarily closed.” The significance of companies following environmental regulations was emphasized by LASEPA.
