The traffic diversion plan along Adeniji through Falomo, including Bourdillon and Queens Drive on the Lagos Island, has been confirmed by the Lagos State Government.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner of Transportation, issued a statement disclosing this.
Osiyemi claims that the diversion is intended to make it easier to repair the roads’ deteriorating asphaltic parts.
It is anticipated that the repair work will start on Monday, May 13, 2024, and continue until November 7, 2024.
“The repair work will be done in phases to minimize the impact on traffic. Beginning on Monday, May 13, 2024, Phase 1 will concentrate on the portion of Alfred Rewane Road between Glover Road Junction and the Falomo Roundabout. The section of the road that runs from Glover Junction to the Falomo Roundabout will be blocked to traffic during this phase.
“Due to the First Phase repair works, drivers on Alfred Rewane Road traveling towards the Falomo Roundabout will be able to access the Falomo Bridge through Bourdillon Road by turning left at Glover Road Junction onto Thompson Avenue.
According to Osiyemi, “traffic on the other side of the road, which is the Falomo Roundabout heading towards the Mainland,” will be allowed.
The commissioner asked drivers to be patient as the partial closure is a necessary component of the Federal Ministry of Works’ traffic management plan for rehabilitating the asphalt surface on the impacted road sections.
