At Lagos Fashion Week, Adaora Soludo made her runway debut with her global apparel company, Aorah Fashion House. Her father, Charles Soludo, is the governor of Anambra State, and the media office of the state made this revelation in a statement.
Aorah was picked as a finalist for the ‘Green Access’ program at Lagos Fashion Week, where she would be among renowned fashion businesses from Nigeria and other African countries. The firm debuted a little collection called “ogbanaonwe a” (it designs itself), which was inspired by the Akwete cloth and brimming with affection.
In line with the statement, “One of the most outstanding signature labels at the fashion event is Obanaonwe, which features distinctive prints and exquisitely tailored blends that showcase the profound artistry of the Aorah brand and the message that each label conveys.”
In partnership with Style House Files, the 2022 Lagos Fashion Week introduced the fourth iteration of its “Green Access” talent identification program throughout Africa in partnership with Best Seller Foundation (BSF).
In addition to fostering the recommitment of resource efficiency, biodegradability, longevity, and recyclability as guiding principles for fashion design and manufacturing, Green Access is a sustainable fashion accelerator program that develops emerging designers.
The cross-national brand Aorah celebrates and uplifts the women who manufacture the traditional textiles by producing limited items with timeless patterns that center around Akwete cloth.
“The goal of the brand, according to Ms. Soludo, is to create high-quality pieces as well as promote African textiles to a global audience. This is inspired by the founder’s heritage growing up in a multicultural country like Nigeria, with a rich variety of textiles and flamboyant traditional attires.”
Adaora presents the brand’s idea.
Adaora gave an explanation of the design’s inspiration, saying that it is a tribute to all the women who toiled tirelessly to hand weave the components.
According to her, it is a sustainable and ethical fashion brand that draws inspiration from Igbo customs and culture to create modern designs based on traditional African textiles like kende, aso oke, and akwete.
The statement went on, “She explained that ten percent of sales are contributed to support the brand’s empowerment initiative, which teaches young people creative skills.
Aorah, a brand established to honor its rich history and continue to work closely with female weaving communities in Abia State, incorporates traditional textiles and Akwete in a variety of ways.
“On September 16, 2022, in Awka, during the recently conducted Anambra Fashion Expo, 2022, Aorah Fashion House emerged as the top brand.”
