Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, sent his thanks to John Murtough, the football director who left the Premier League club this week.
With Murtough’s exit, the club has lost more than ten years of his service, and INEOS will now proceed to create a new football operations structure.
When his gardening leave period expires or a compensation arrangement with Newcastle is reached, Dan Ashworth will assume Murtough’s position.
“You mentioned something for the new season, and it’s very important,” Ten Hag remarked. To start the next season, they must replace this function, which is what the new ownership is working on.
“He has moved on, but I feel like he’s not supporting me right now. I would want to congratulate John for our productive working relationship and wish him well in his future endeavors.
“I have been working well with the new ownership, and I will keep doing so. That has no bearing on how I go about my work here.
“The circumstances are still ideal, and I’m happy with that. Our goal is to create the best possible atmosphere for success.”
