There will be a two-week power outage at the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) Amukpe substation in Delta State. In a statement issued on Saturday, May 4, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, stated that the outage would persist until May 17.
The outage is required to allow contractors to safely install two 132kV transmission towers at the substation. Because of this, Benin DisCo won’t receive bulk power during this time via the Adeje industrial, forest, Mosogar, Sapele, and Abraka feeds.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) declared, “With its Amukpe Transmission Substation, TCN will begin construction on two (2) 132kV transmission towers. Additionally, from Saturday, May 4 to May 17, 2024, a part of the 132kV double circuit transmission lines between Delta and Oghara and Benin will be restrung.
TCN further stressed that the outage is necessary to guarantee a safe working environment for the contractor and that N-1 redundancy will be established upon project completion, allowing TCN to supply bulk electricity to the substation from either the Ughelli or Benin transmission line in the event of a fault.
When these renovations are finished, the Amukpe transmission substation’s bulk power supply should be more reliable and flexible.
