The Nigerian Democratic Youth Front (NDYF) has issued a warning to the Federal Government about the risks associated with granting permission to Femi Fani-Kayode, the former minister of aviation and chief executive of the All Progressive Congress (APC) that is in charge, for his offensive and insensitive remarks.
Additionally, the group urged the Nigeria Police and Department of State Security (DSS) to arrest Fani-Kayode before his “injudicious, uncultured, and inflammatory speeches” cause widespread civil unrest and national insecurity.
At a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, NDYF issued the warning.
Dr. Gideon Obong, president, and Usman Ahmed Yahaya, secretary general, addressed the conference. They said Fani-Kayode’s recent unguarded statement that Muslims in Nigeria would have become an endangered species if Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi had been declared the winner was inappropriate.
The group sounded the alarm because history has shown that wars frequently begin as verbal fights before turning physical.
According to what they said, “Fani-Kayode had in one of his recent senseless rants on Twitter attempted to defame Mr. Obi before our Muslim brothers and sisters by gloating that the purported leaked telephone conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church makes him unfit to lead a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multicultural state as a hater of non-Christians.” This was in reference to the claim that
“FFK betrayed dignity and morality in order to spew venomous remarks about Obi in order to please his paymasters ostensibly because he spoke out for the interests of Muslims and other non-Christians. Ironically, Fan-Kayode, the one who incited a new civil war in Nigeria with his remarks, has no moral ground to claim that Obi would have sparked a religious war in Nigeria within a few months if he had been elected president.
Valentine Obienyem, Peter Obi’s media aide, has since discredited the alleged leak audio, claiming that his principal’s conversation with Oyedepo was “badly doctored.” “His hatred for Obi and inordinate desperation to please his paymasters did not allow him to be in tune with the reality,” Valentine Obienyem wrote.
However, Femi Fani-Kayode, a man driven by avarice and prejudice, would even feign ignorance to make his already filthy self more filthy for scrubs.
“The failed blackmail has been blamed on Fani-Kayode’s party, the APC, by a number of organizations, including the Free Nigeria Movement. The particularly stinking carcass of the poorly scripted blackmail was devoured quickly by FFK. At the just-concluded governorship election in Lagos State, similar insensitive remarks made by Fani-Kayode and others of his kind fueled unprecedented violence against non-Yoruba voters. Sadly, a number of lives were lost as a result of Femi’s imprudent, rude, and inflammatory speeches. One has to wonder why he was chosen to represent the presidential campaign council of a ruling party with his disorderly behavior.
“By continuing to tolerate his insensitive razzmatazz, the Federal Government is jeopardizing the nation’s unity. His incisive remarks on a regular basis are laying the groundwork for Nigeria’s demise. He should be isolated far away for a critical mental assessment.
“The APC government may decide to continue supporting Femi Fani-Kayode’s foolishness and foolhardiness at the risk of widespread civil unrest and national insecurity. FFK has procured the ignominious standing of the most terrible danger to our public solidarity, harmony and security.”
The group demanded that Femi Fani-Kayode be apprehended by the Nigeria Police and Department of State Security within 48 hours of starting a firestorm across the nation.
They urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to dismiss Fani-Kayode’s made up, noxious and illusory case that Obi loathes Muslims and non-Christians, adding that Fani-Kayode is a notable intellectually insane individual who ought not be viewed in a serious way.
