Napoli’s Serie A champion, Victor Osimhen has opened up on why he donned a “special mask” in his club’s 1-0 victory over Fiorentina at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.
RAWLOADED reported that the Nigerian scored the only goal of the match from the spot at the second time of asking after initially missing a penalty.
The striker donned a “special mask” with “3” and Nigerian flag on it.
Explaining why he used a “special mask” for first match as champion of Italy, the Capocannoniere leader said, “It’s a special mask. [The ‘3’ signifies] the third time we won the Scudetto. And of course, [the Nigerian flag signifies that] I represent my country whenever I play. And [‘VO9’] Victor Osimhen 9 is my trademark,” he told DAZN in a post match interview.
“This is really special for me. And I’m going to keep this particular one forever. It’s really special.”
With 23 goals in 27 appearances this season, Victor Osimhen is on course to become the first African Serie A Golden Boot winner.
