In the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals, Al-Hilal defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in a thrilling match at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, igniting a flurry of controversy and jeers.
Al-Hilal, who are atop the Saudi Pro League, defeated their fiercest rivals 2-1 thanks to a dominant display of play. Otavio of Al Nassr scored the first goal in the match, but VAR halted play after pointing up Ronaldo’s offside position.
Relentless, Al-Hilal stormed ahead in the second half, with Malcom increasing the advantage to 2-0 in the 72nd minute after Salem Aldawsari broke the tie in the 61st. Al-Hilal held onto their lead in spite of a late consolation goal in the 89th minute from Sadio Mane of Al Nassr.
But when Ronaldo elbowed an opponent in the 86th minute and was sent off with a straight red card, the game took a dramatic turn. His sarcastic gesture conveyed his mix of shock and rage as he exited the field.
Following the incident, Al-Hilal sent a playful teasing message on social media, specifically Instagram, directed at Ronaldo and his group, saying, “We know.. They know..” Their groans never stop. It’s just that everyone is aware of it.” The post intensifies the already hot interaction by introducing a new level of rivalry and spice.
