Ruger, the stage name of Nigerian musician Michael Adebayo Olayinka, has thanked his previous record company, Jonzing World, for launching him into the public eye.
He did, however, disclose that he had decided not to extend his contract since the label had not done enough to market his brand.
Ruger accused D’Prince, his former label head, of ignoring him and using the money from his work to find new artists. Ruger expressed his annoyance on X on Thursday in a series of posts, suggesting that he may be reluctant to provide additional information about the record label due to concern about possible consequences.
He wrote, “Although I’m grateful to Jonzing World for introducing me to the world, I decided not to continue with them because they became complacent with the money they were earning from me and couldn’t push me further as I desired. I was supposed to renegotiate the contract, but I couldn’t envision another five years without action.
“They used my earnings to support new artists, leaving me in the dark without transparency. I just laugh. How ironic, isn’t it?
“There’s much more to discuss, but they might wait for me at Ikoyi Link Bridge to harm me severely.
“Recall that Ruger departed from Jonzing World on February 6, 2024, as his contract expired. In an Instagram post, he expressed gratitude to Jonzing World and D’Prince, but stated it was time for him to bet on himself.
