Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai has backed the team to make a big impact at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Jose Peseiro’s men will be looking to win a fourth title in Cote d’Ivoire next year.
The West Africans had a disappointing outing two years ago in Cameroon, bowing out in the Round of 16.
Rufai, a member of the Super Eagles side that conquered the rest of the continent in Tunisia in 1994, believes the team can go all the way this time around.
“I have a strong belief the Super Eagles will do well in Cote d’Ivoire,” Rufai told reporters.
“You can’t always rule out the Super Eagles from doing well in a competition like the AFCON.
“The Nigerian spirit is always there as well as the quality. I believe the team will surpass expectations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The three-time African champions will discover their group-stage opponents on Thursday (today).
Cote d’Ivoire will host the competition from January 13 to February 11, 2023.
