Two suspected ringleaders behind a day of chaos on London‘s Oxford Street, where police clashed with youths over fears of TikTok-inspired looting, were arrested last night.
Terrified shoppers were locked inside stores as staff pulled their shutters down Wednesday afternoon as groups of youths gathered in the area after rumours on social media that gangs were going to ‘rob JD Sports’ and shoplift.
Shocking videos showed Metropolitan Police officers wielding batons and chasing after people in Europe’s busiest shopping street, with photos earlier in the day appearing to show one cop being punched in the face by a young man.
Some youths were seen being wrestled away by officers in handcuffs, while others were detained on suspicion of going equipped to steal and breaching dispersal orders.

Police issued 34 dispersal orders, including one to TikTok prankster Mizzy who was seen by police in the area days after failing to appear before magistrates for breaching a court order.
He later released a video insisting he was not involved in the disorder on Wednesday.
What led to the chaos
The chaos was triggered following a widely shared post over social media calling on thugs to ‘rob’ JD sports and other stores Wednesday afternoon.
A poster plugging the carnage urged yobs to follow a ‘dress code’ of balaclavas and gloves.
‘Don’t come if you can’t run,’ it said before warning: ‘Don’t bring any weapons.’
The Met put additional officers in the area with the atmosphere turning fractious in the afternoon as mounted officers and security personnel tried to disperse the crowds.
A total of seven people were arrested at the scene, with two others detained by police in Essex early in the afternoon over online social media posts.
In a separate video, infamous TikTokker Mizzy – whose previous ‘pranks’ have seen him and his followers invading people’s homes and causing mayhem in Oxford Street’s Primark store – was also filmed being stopped by police.
Sporting bright purple hair, the shirtless 18-year-old – whose real name is Bacari-Bronze O’Garro – was searched and then turned away from the area by officers.
There’s no indication he was involved in the chaos that took place on Wednesday.
He later released a video on Twitter claiming he had been in the area to go to the cinema for a friend’s birthday, and not to take part in the disorder.
