On his Instagram page early on Monday morning, Nigerian Afrobeat artist and record producer Chisom Faith, also known as Rexxie, revealed with shocking abandon that he had been captured in Uganda.
The “KPK” hitmaker revealed that he was being held by Ugandan immigration officials at the moment, although SaharaReporters could not confirm the precise cause for his detention.
Using the hashtag “UgandaFreeRexxie” to increase the volume of his request for release, Rexxie made a plea for help to his supporters and fellow Nigerians. He posted on Instagram, saying, “I was arrested at the Ugandan Immigration office.”
Please, I need aid,” reaffirmed his cries for rescue.Rexxie had been in Kenya for a performance just three days earlier, based on a cursory look through his recent Instagram activity.
Rexxie, who is well-known for creating the Zanku sound and collaborating with the late MohBad on hit songs including Naira Marley’s “Soapy,” “Tesumole,” and “KPK,” shocked the music industry with his unexpected arrest.
This incident reminds me of when the Ugandan Police Force arrested Nigerian musicians Omah Lay and Tems in 2020 for breaking COVID-19 regulations after their performances at The Big Brunch event in Kampala. Before being released from custody, the two were detained for three days.
