The third-year Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, were officially announced on Sunday.
This was subsequent to Monaco’s 3-2 loss in Lyon.
Before the 31st matchday of the French top division, PSG led Monaco by 12 points after a 3-3 draw with Le Havre on Saturday.
When Monaco took a 1-0 lead early in their match against Lyon, the reigning champions appeared capable of holding off the celebration, but the home team rallied to take a 2-1 lead after 26 minutes.
Ben Yedder’s second goal gave Monaco another chance to tie the score in the second half, but Lyon’s Malick Fofana’s goal in the 84th minute gave Lyon the victory.
With three games remaining, Monaco trails PSG by 12 points as a result of the outcome. The squad led by Luis Enrique is unbeatable and has won the national championship 12 times in its existence.
