Friday morning saw the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Nigeria, ahead of their 72-hour tour.
Yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex took a plane to Heathrow to meet her husband at the Windsor Suite, the airport’s VIP area.
After the scheduled pilot became ill and a replacement had to be arranged, the two of them boarded the midnight trip to Abuja on British Airways, although with a minor delay.
The couple was separated from other passengers by a curtain while seated in the first class section of the Boeing 777, where they were making their maiden trip to Nigeria together.
It happens after Harry declared that he was “excited” to be returning to the UK this week to commemorate the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary. The Duke had arrived in London on Tuesday and had been attending competition-related events, such as a Thanksgiving service.
Passengers had to wait while the couple was led away, grinning as they said goodbye to the cabin staff.
They were welcomed by Nigerian officials at the Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where they were escorted into a waiting blacked-out vehicle via a side entrance that led onto the pier.
