Following Leeds United’s devastating 4-0 loss to arch rivals Queens Park Rangers, Leicester City was promoted to the Premier League on Friday.
Leicester City now leads the Championship with 94 points and two games remaining, while Leeds is still in second place with 90 points and one game remaining.
With three games left, Ipswich Town, in third position, has the potential to surpass Leeds and move up to the second automatic promotion spot. They presently sit at 89 points.
Leicester City, led by Enzo Maresca, was promoted on its first attempt after being third-from-bottom in the Premier League the previous season.
They travel to Preston for the first of their final two games on Monday, and they host Blackburn for the season’s last game on.
If Coventry wins their home game on Tuesday and Ipswich defeats Hull on Saturday, Leeds will finish outside the top two.
If Ipswich wins both, Leeds will have to make the playoffs, and Ipswich will be promoted.
Sam Field, Lucas Andersen, Lyndon Dykes, and Ilias Chair all scored goals on Friday to give QPR the win and secure their place in the English second division.
