Porsha Williams, known for her role in the reality show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has initiated divorce proceedings from her Nigerian spouse, Simon Guobadia, after just 15 months of marriage.
The decision, reportedly made on Friday, February 23, appears unrelated to speculation surrounding Guobadia’s citizenship status, as confirmed by sources.
Earlier, on Thursday, February 22, news surfaced that Guobadia, aged 59 and originally from Nigeria, had faced multiple rejections for U.S. residency. Despite this, Guobadia seemed unfazed by the rumors, as evidenced by his Instagram post on Tuesday, February 20, captioned “#42yearsLivinginAmerica.”
While Williams has remained silent on the matter publicly, her Instagram handle still bears Guobadia’s last name, and images featuring the couple have not been removed.
Williams and Guobadia’s whirlwind romance saw them announce their engagement in May 2021 after just a month of dating, culminating in their official marriage in November 2022.
News of Williams’ divorce filing comes shortly after it was disclosed that she would be returning for the 16th season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” as part of a broader agreement with NBCUniversal. In a statement on February 13, she expressed gratitude for NBCUniversal’s trust and stated her eagerness to showcase her new journey on the show.
