Regina Daniels Nwoko, a well-known Nollywood actress, has shared a video on her social media page in which she urges her fellow celebrities, particularly those in the Nollywood industry,
to refrain from encouraging child labor by either seeing young girls on set and not doing anything about it or by bringing young girls onto the set.
The Nollywood star was particularly concerned about girls because, in her opinion, they are more dependent on society than boys are.
After her encounter with a 14-year-old girl, which she narrated in detail in the video she posted on her social media page, Regina Daniels emphasized that celebrities should not encourage child labor.
Regina Daniels said that the girl in question approached her and got her to ask a lot of important questions out of curiosity.
She said that the girl knew how insecure the Nollywood industry can be, especially for young girls, because she worked there for years.
Regina Daniels also said that her mother, Rita Daniels, who is also a well-known Nollywood actress, helped her succeed in the business.
But Regina Daniels continued to talk about the girl and went into great detail about why she felt compelled to take responsibility for the girl and send her back to school after hearing some of the things the girl said that broke her heart.
Regina also said that the girl mentioned some famous people she had worked with in the past and said she was disappointed in them, but she didn’t say who.
However, in the end, she urged movie producers and celebrities to stop supporting child labor and to either try to assist a child without a parent on set or, even better, to send the child home.
She went on to say that she would fight any producer involved if she were brought back on set to see a child like the girl she talked about. Regina Daniels wrote as she shared the video:
“This goes to the CELEBRITY PRODUCERS AND MOVIE PRODUCERS, please say NO to child labor and keep the industry safe,”
