hen 11-year-old Tolu learned that his letter to Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra, had not only reached him but also been acknowledged by the politician, he was taken aback.
The letter that the boy sent was an invitation to the child’s graduation from Corona School in Gbagada, Lagos.
Not only did the Labour Party accept the invitation, but they also granted him a check in the general election in 2023.
Obi claimed that he was inspired to take such a daring move by the young man’s courage.
When Obi asked how Tolu found out about him, the child answered that he had been following him since the election days and was motivated by the positive remarks made about the politician by those in his immediate vicinity.
Obi stated: “I pushed him to work hard in his studies and fight the inclination to do as the crowd does when it is incorrect. I imagined then that the male child’s future and Nigeria as a whole would be better, guided by young trailblazers like Tolu who will succeed in many areas and effect good change. This young boy and every boy child will overcome their obstacles and shine as lights of hope to make a better tomorrow for their generation if they receive the best education and a strong moral compass.
