Former Juventus star and Argentine maestro, Paulo Dybala was a game changer yesterday for Jose Mourinho led AS Roma team in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter finals ties at home against Netherlands Eredivisie giant, Feyenoord at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
The 29 year old prolific and versatile dazzler started the game from the bench due to tactical reason but was introduced in the second half for Nicola Zalewski, and he was able to play his part and also contributed his quota in the thrilling encounter.
Paulo Dybala was at the rescue point for the Jose Mourinho’s side after coming on into the game as he scored a late minute goal that gave them the lead and also got them levelled on aggregate, which as such forced the game into the extra time where the job was finally done thereby booked a spot in the semi-finals round of the competition.
The first half of the game hanged on the balance with nothing separating the two sides going into the half time break which ended goalless draw, before the host got the deadlock broken in the second half with a goal from Leonardo Spinazzola to make it one nil.
The visitor got levelled by taking the lead on aggregate courtesy of a goal from Igor Paixao to make it 1-1 and two goals to one on aggregate, before Paulo Dybala scored an 89th minute goal to give the host the lead and as such got them levelled on aggregate thereby forced the game into the extra time.
AS Roma in the extra time of the game scored two straight goals after Tammy Abraham provided a brace of assists for Stephan El Shaarawy and Lorenzo Pellegrini, which ended the game four goals to one in the 120 minute duration and four goals to two on aggregate.
After the game, Paulo Dybala was named as the winner for the Man of the Match award following his outstanding performance for the host in the show of the night which was a well deserved one.
He will as such be hoping to keep his impressive goal scoring form going for his team in their next game as they continue their pursuit to win first-ever UEFA Europa League trophy.
