Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki appointed Omobayo Godwin as his new deputy after Comrade Philip Shaibu was impeached on Monday by the State House of Assembly.
Today is Omobayo’s inauguration, which will take place at Benin City’s Edo State Government House. Omobayo was born on July 19, 1986, in the state’s Akoko Edo Local Government Area.
Omobayo is well-equipped for the position as a professional and an expert in public administration, having earned a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc. in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
He has proven his dedication to professional standards and ethics by becoming a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
He worked as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited before being recently appointed, where he acquired useful knowledge in operations in the South-South region. His commitment to quality work was a factor in the company’s growth and success in the region.
Apart from his technical profession, he has been actively involved in local politics, gaining the confidence of his community and uniting them around shared causes. His reputation as a tough leader has been further cemented by his ability to transcend political differences and disturb his foes.
