High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, the incumbent Balogun of Ibadanland, has been chosen by the kingmakers in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, to be the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
During a meeting on Friday at Mapo Hall, these kingmakers—who also comprise the Olubadan-in-Council—officially ratified Olakulehin’s appointment.
According to RAWLOADED, the meeting started at around 11:00 am and ended just after 12:00 pm.
The Olubadan seat remained empty after the death of Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, 42nd Olubadan, last month. The Olubadan-in-Council met in Mapo Hall on Friday to fill this vacuum, and all of the members present unanimously supported the nomination of High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin.
The nomination of Olakulehin was made during the meeting, which was presided over by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo State, and High Chief Lateef Adebimpe, the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland. Osi Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole Foko; Ashipa Olubadan, Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade; Ekarun Olubadan, Adebayo Akande; Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Balogun, Kola Adegbola; Ekerin Balogun, Dada Isioye; and Ekarun Balogun, Abiodun Azeez were among the distinguished members of the Olubadan-in-Council who were present.
One notable person who was not there at the event was Tajudeen Ajibola, the Otun Balogun. The High Chiefs want to send Olakulehin’s name to state governor Seyi Makinde for formal support after the ratification.
