The Federal Government would compensate property owners impacted by the destruction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which will run from channel 0 to channel 3, with N2.75 billion on Wednesday (today), according to Minister of Works David Umahi.
Umahi made this revelation on Wednesday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos State.
In the upcoming days, additional pay is anticipated.
“We would do everything possible to pay the human face compensation in order to show sympathy for people who voted for Mr. President,” he declared.
“We are compensating over N2 billion today, just from channel 0 to channel 3.”
Umahi directed that the other individuals who needed to be reimbursed go to the Compensation Committee Secretariat for payment, pointing out that the compensation being done was a flag-off for ten individuals.
“All tenants within the Landmark premises have been shortlisted today, and they will receive alerts by 2:00 pm,” he continued.
The majority of them are present, which ends Landmark’s political involvement.
The minister sent the remaining unpaid property owners to the committee responsible for compensation.
“The committee should meet with all individuals.
“To sign your documents in the form of indemnity, the committee will convene at 2:00 pm. You will receive your alert by 2:00 pm tomorrow.”
