The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man named David Gaius for allegedly raping his stepdaughter.
Authorities are now investigating the man on three counts of raping his stepdaughter.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, Gaius, who dwells in Unguwan Prison in the Dirma hamlet of Dumne, Song Local Government Area, admits to perpetrating the act.
Gaius blamed the devil when recounting how he slept with the girl three times. He said the devil tricked him into the deed when intoxicated.
He also acknowledged employing an attraction charm on the female. He claimed he put the charm in the steak he and his victim ate in order to attract her.
He said he raped the girl for the first time in 2020, when she was 14 years old while living in the same house with his wife and other children after the rest of the family had gone to bed.
He went on to say that when he did it for the third time, his wife caught him red-handed, but he lied to her, telling her that a native doctor had asked him to rape a small girl.
He denied using a white handkerchief to wipe his victim’s private area for ceremonial purposes, as the girl claimed, and also denied raping her for ritual purposes.
