Concerns have been voiced by seasoned actor Kanayo O Kanayo regarding the increase of Nigerian performers on YouTube.
He claimed that the common habit of demanding one-day shoots among burgeoning actors on YouTube was damaging.Sustainability and professionalism.
Kanayo criticized the practice of asking outrageous rates for one-day shootings when performers must perform multiple acts in a short amount of time in an Instagram video.
He expressed concern that performers’ health may be suffering as a result of such strenuous working conditions.
Kanayo emphasized how Nigerian actors prioritize short-term advantages over sustainable methods, demonstrating a lack of expertise and forethought.
He emphasized how one-day shoots are unsustainable since they sometimes involve exaggerated expectations and overworked actors.
Kanayo noted the fact that this method puts performers’ safety in danger in addition to lowering the caliber of the material.
The seasoned actor attributed the stress of such demanding filming schedules to the regrettable deterioration in health of a well-liked colleague who started the one-day shoot trend.
He advised performers to put their health first and advised against compromising their craft in order to make quick money.
Kanayo continued by saying that because of the way people are using it, YouTube will soon disappear from Nigeria.
He said: “We built Nollywood block by block, brick by brick, but the actors who have taken over YouTube, not the producers, have no idea what they’re doing or how to make a process that will last for a long time when it comes to making videos or content.”
Consider the irony of a one-day shoot as an example. It can’t last. These days, some of them really complicate things for producers. They claim that a day shot costs either N1.5 million or N1 million. It cannot continue.
“Unfortunately, the extremely esteemed colleague who initiated this one-day shoot is not doing well. Why? I am aware that everyone who assigns you work wants it completed. They give you enough to complete in a single day. Thirty-five scenes out of thirty.
While the majority of you may be content to say, “I have everything I need for the next six months,” your healthSince what you are doing is unsustainable, I hope you enjoy the same level of health as those of us who began 38 years ago.
I have nothing against you. Make all the money you want, but in my opinion, the damage you are causing to professionalism won’t endure for long. The YouTube platform won’t be around for very long in Nigeria.
