A fully laden 40-foot Mack articulated truck crashed into a Nissan sedan (registered ABJ 692 BG) in Lagos today, April 12, causing the immediate death of a woman riding in the back of the vehicle. Amazingly, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape unscathed, owing to the expeditious aid of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) representatives, in the vicinity of N.N.P.C Estate in Alapere.
The regrettable situation was verified in a statement by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of LASTMA’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department. He claimed that as soon as the collision happened, the driver of the Mack articulated truck and his motor-boy left the site.
According to preliminary findings, the driver of the Mack articulated truck lost control of the vehicle while driving at a high speed owing to a brake failure. This led to a collision with the Nissan sedan that was moving when it collided with the car near N.N.P.C Estate in Alapere, Ogudu, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The woman’s body was removed from the site and given to police from the Alapere Police Station by the authorities.
