The family of late singer, rapper, and songwriter, Ifeoluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known by his stage name, Mohbad has confirmed the news of his death.
In an official statement on his Instagram page, his family stated that the singer is finally at peace, though they didn’t disclose the cause of his death.
Describing him as a light, they appreciated the public for their love and prayers and begged for privacy as they navigated the difficult time.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023.
Mohbad was Light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Imole is finally at Peace”.
The devastating news was confirmed by Entertainment journalist, Ovie, who revealed that the former Marlian signee kicked the bucket on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Sources close to the late singer’s family and friends had disclosed that Mohbad succumbed to complications arising from a severe ear infection.
The news wasn’t well received by many as they believed there was more to his death.
Many celebrities like Iyabo Ojo, Olamide, Davido, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Tacha, and Do2dtun; to mention but a few mourned him. Even his former label boss, Naira Marley, and his former label mate, Zinoleesky paid their last respect to him.
Bukunmi, who has mixed feelings of happiness and sadness, recounted her last moment with the singer.
She revealed the singer’s last message to her, as she noted how he is in a better place.
OAP, Do2dtun, recalled how he and Mohbad were at a show together a few days back and they smiled and laughed without knowing that would be their last moment together.
Also, BBNaija’s Tacha recalled how she hosted the singer on her radio show, without knowing that would be the last time she would see him.
