Veteran Actor, Olaniyi Afonja, popularly known by his stage name Sanyeri, has opened up in a recent interview, how dropping out of school deprived him from getting to where he is suppose to be today.
In a recent interview with media personality, Olamide Famuwagun, Sanyeri disclosed the numerous opportunities he missed because he refused to go to school and how he keeps regretting it each day. According to him at a very young age, he quitted schooling to focus on his acting career. Though his acting skills were top notched and it made him famous in the industry, his intelligence was being played on. He revealed not being able to speak correct English like most of his mates and it affected his communication with people.
Sanyeri has been acting for about three decades in the movie industry making him one of the oldest Yoruba actors. He however thanked the entertainment industry for making him put into use his talent of acting which would have been dead if he gave up acting for schooling. He was also thankful for the money he made over the years from his acting which he put into good use and is still enjoying the benefits of even after his retirement.
He however revealed employing a lesson teacher to tutor him at home on English Language precisely and also enrolled classes at a private university in Nigeria so as to further his education. The 47 year old man talked about the value of education and how age wouldn’t stop him from pursuing his. His value for education made him send his children abroad to study. A video of them speaking English fluently while thanking fans for supporting their father was also shared on his Instagram page and it all proved that Education is not a scam after all.
