Former England manager, Fabio Capello, has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is currently a better player than Lionel Messi.
Capello said Mbappe is strong, quick and scores a lot of goals.
Mbappe has scored 36 goals and registered nine assists in 39 games across competitions for PSG so far this season.
The France international is presently the joint top scorer in Ligue 1 this campaign with 24 goals, tied with Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, while Messi, on the other hand, is the top assist provider with 15 assists.
Many fans and pundits believe Messi and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland have been two of the best players this season.
But Capello has opined that Mbappe is a better player than Messi.
“Messi has done what he has done throughout his career and over so many years and he is fantastic,” Capello said at the Laureus Awards ceremony (via MARCA).
“He has been the best for several years. But at the moment, Mbappe is better. He is strong, he’s quick, he scores goals. Even if he does not have the magic of Messi.”
