Following his resignation from the royal family in 2020, Prince Harry has made the United States his primary place of abode.
Documents that the Daily Mail was able to collect show that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has changed his “New Country/State Usually Resident” to the United States.
According to the documentation submitted to Companies House for Harry’s eco-tourism business, Travalyst, the “date of change” was specified as June 29, 2023.
Three months after King Charles III requested that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, leave Frogmore Cottage, the couple officially moved out of their UK home on June 28.
It’s still unclear how Harry’s choice to give up his residency in the United Kingdom will affect any of his royal titles. He will see his father, nevertheless, when he travels to London the following month.
Harry made it clear in December 2023 that, even after going through a legal change, he still considered the UK to be his “home.” Nevertheless, he felt “compelled” to move to the US due to safety concerns.
Harry expressed in writing during a London court hearing how much he values his children’s UK background and how much he wants them to feel at home in both the UK and the US where they currently reside. In the end, his request for police protection paid for by taxpayers was denied.
Harry has also stated that he wants to become an American citizen.
“In February, during an interview with ‘Good Morning America,’ Harry mentioned that while the idea of American citizenship has crossed his mind, it’s not currently a top priority for him,” he said.
Harry and Markle have lived in California with their two kids for the last four years, and Harry says they want to stay there for the foreseeable future.
Harry was excited as he thought back on their time on the West Coast, saying, “It’s fantastic.” I treasure each and every day.”
