Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, declared that Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City was his “worst experience as a football manager.”
The victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium put City two points clear thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland.
But the main topic of discussion prior to the match was whether Spurs would assist rivals Arsenal in winning the Premier League.
Postecoglou, however, stated: “It was probably the worst game-related experience I’ve had as a football manager.”
“Once I realised I’d got it wrong in terms of what the atmosphere was going to be like and what people felt. I started to worry a lot about what would happen if Man City, the greatest team in the world, started to lose teams.
“When I thought of people doubting my honesty and the people I work with, I started to have cold chills.
“An observation was made during the rerun of the game that said, ‘Oh, Tottenham are really going for it.'” You laugh at that, but it’s 26 years of my life, and people should know that I’m a huge fan of this game, if nothing else. I detest to think that after a crushing loss, people are wondering if I adequately prepared the players, as Man City could have done to us.
We know on social media that it would have happened before people say, ‘That’s not going to happen. Completely. And I’d have to try to defend myself up here. You’re protecting something moment you begin to defend yourself, you know that much.
