The former captain of Manchester United, Gary Neville, revealed that he was never intimidated by Cristiano Ronaldo when they were teammates at Old Trafford. Neville said this when talking about the toughest opponents he faced at Manchester United’s Carrington training facility.
Known as one of the best full-backs of his generation, Neville played against several of the best players in the world while Sir Alex Ferguson was the Red Devils’ manager.
In an interview with Trent Alexander-Arnold, the right-back for England, Neville said, “I met Cristiano Ronaldo a couple of times when he switched to my side, and it was definitely demanding.”
“But I don’t think he enjoyed it either,” he went on. He was quite young at the time, but I had a lot of experience.”
Neville underlined, “I was able to compete against him every day, so I was able to stay calm.” I often point out that players like Giggs, Ronaldo, and Rooney were among the most challenging opponents I faced during our training sessions.”
