Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told Manchester United to back their manager Erik ten Hag in the transfer market to replace three players this summer.
The Dutch manager has shown his capabilities in his first season in the Premier League, guiding the Red Devils to the Carabao Cup victory last month.
Former Arsenal forward Wright said that the former Ajax manager should be given the necessary backing by the Manchester United hierarchy and advised the manager to sign a new striker, right-back and goalkeeper this summer.
Wright believes the Red Devils will also benefit from signing a new right-back, with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka competing for the position.
The former England attacker also doubts goalkeeper David de Gea is the right man for Ten Hag’s style of play.
“I still don’t think the right-hand side of [Manchester United]team is working right now. You’ve got [Jadon] Sancho and Antony who are capable of doing unbelievable stuff,” he told Wrighty’s House podcast.
“I can’t wait for Erik ten Hag to get the right-back he wants and the No. 9 he wants.
‘The goalkeeper situation, at some stage something needs to be done about the goalkeeper [De Gea]. I want to see all of those things before I judge Erik ten Hag too much.”
