Arsenal’s nerve-wracking 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur gave them a four-point lead over the league leaders.
By half-time, the Gunners led by three goals.
After taking the lead thanks to an own goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mikel Arteta’s team went on to dominate the North London Derby with goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.
The second half, though, was a whole different story.
Cristian Romero pulled one back in the 64th minute after goalkeeper David Raya made a mistake as Arsenal was in complete control.
Heung-Min Son’s penalty kick in the 87th minute then set up a nerve-wracking finale for the Gunners, who held off late pressure from Spurs to go four points clear of Manchester City and maintain their hopes of winning the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.
In the meantime, Tottenham’s prospects of qualifying for the Champions League were further dashed when they lost for the second straight game and dropped seven points behind fourth-place Aston Villa.
