DJ Switch, the well-known disc jockey Obianuju Catherine Udeh, has refuted claims that she was arrested in Lagos.
Accusations of fraud and assault reportedly led to DJ Switch’s detention and subsequent appearance at the Eti Osa magistrate court, according to reports that broke on Thursday.
DJ Switch stated that the report was untrue and that it was an attempt to damage her reputation in a statement that she posted on social media. She also threatened to take legal action against the people who disseminated the false information.
“As it’s not my birthday today, I was startled to see how many calls and texts I had received upon waking up this morning. just to find out about the alleged arrest of me,” she wrote.
It was implied in one of the links that went viral that I had beaten the police. I may not agree with some police tactics, but I do not endorse or condone violence against the police.”
“Our blogs have such a voracious appetite for visitors that they won’t even pay the transportation fee to confirm the information they provide with the public. This dangerous habit of deceptive reporting warps stories.
“A lot of people want to think that I am like the people I have spoken out against, or that I have carelessly risked everything I have worked for in order to harm Nigeria. This idea is not supported.
Having stated that, my legal team has evidence of every blog that spreads this misleading information, which amounts to character assassination. These bloggers have till the end of the day to remove the inaccurate content and make an apology.
I am not looking for free exposure; I detest going after influence, and even if I am being pressured to take quick legal action—which would be expensive for everyone—I will not bow down. I therefore beg these sites to act morally and allow everyone to take something away from this.”
